John,
Earlier this week, the Trump administration enacted sweeping layoffs at the Department of Health and Human Services.
These cuts included the entire team responsible for research and tracking of assisted reproductive technology across the country—a decimating blow to the future of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
One function of the team was compiling data about the efficacy of fertility clinics, helping give patients the resources they need to make deeply personal healthcare decisions.
This move comes just days after Trump declared himself the “fertilization president.”
The hypocrisy is infuriating, but it’s nothing new: Trump knows that his administration’s attacks on our reproductive freedoms are wildly unpopular, so he tries to keep them quiet.
Whether it’s limiting provider choice for Medicaid patients, defunding trusted healthcare providers like Planned Parenthood, or passing abortion bans, the attacks on our reproductive rights are all about limiting our ability to make choices around how we build our families.
Moves like these, which often happen in the shadows, are part of the Trump administration's ongoing effort to dictate how we live, who has access to resources, and what our futures look like.
This has always been a fight about who gets to decide if, when, and how we grow our families.
We’re working every day to elect leaders who will protect and expand access to the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare, including IVF.
Thanks for being in this work with us,
