Stocking of spring trout continues in April
The spring stocking of trout didn't end in March — it continues through April in waters across the state, making for a fun afternoon of catching rainbows. Many of these large fish are 12 inches or more in length.

Sign up for unique triathlon at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area
Registration just opened for Nebraska’s most scenic triathlon – Crofton’s Dam Race – set for July 26 at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area.
Now in its eighth year, the race continues to blend small town charm and new traditions, all while benefiting the development of a walk-bike trail at the recreation area just north of Crofton.

State parks in north-central Nebraska see improvements
Visitors to state parks in north-central Nebraska, such as Merritt Reservoir, Victoria Springs and others, will see a variety of upgrades and improvements. Projects in the works, or already completed, include expanded camping options, new shower facilities, repairs from historic flood damage and more.

Register for fun, free statewide birding competition in May
The Nebraska Birding Bowl is back for its third year, giving Nebraskans of all ages and experience levels the chance to enjoy seeing and learning about birds. The statewide competition kicks off May 1, and prizes include a two-night cabin stay at a Nebraska state park, bird feeders, binoculars and a $1,000 cash prize.
Register online anytime in April or May! Go solo or in a group, and pick your category: There's one for youth and families, backyard birders, beginner-to-casual birders, and those competing to observe the most species.
