Team,
Last night was our municipal elections around the state, and I am so proud and excited to tell you that we had an incredible, record-breaking, history-making night.
Here is a quick rundown of some of our wins:
* 1st African American Mayor in Urbana
* Clean sweep of all Normal Township offices
* Reelected Normal Mayor
* Flipped Galesburg Mayor & Galesburg Township Supervisor
* Won Rock Island Mayor and flipped all South Moline Township offices
* Picked up 1 contested seat on Springfield School Board - Dems now have a majority on that board
* Picked up seats on the St. Charles School Board
* For the first time in close to 60 years we have control of the Capitol Township Board (Springfield) winning 3 of the 4 seats and unseating 3 GOP incumbents
* Picked up a Township Supervisor in Makanda Township (Jackson County) that had been in GOP control for 40 years
* Won the Mayor of Metamora
Combine these impressive wins with overwhelming victories in DuPage County and unseating Aurora GOP Mayor Richard Irvin.
This was a major night for us, full of victory and hope – and there’s one reason for it: county parties around our state have been building and preparing for years to get results like what we achieved last night.
Last night proves that when we work hard, when we recruit good candidates, when we talk to voters about our plans for the future, and when we talk about the issues that matter, we win. Now we’ve got 2026 lined up and planning is already underway.
If you want to help us double down on what we know is a good strategy and plan to move forward, you can donate right now to help keep our work going. We can’t do any of this without you.
DONATE TO DEMOCRATIC VICTORY →Thank you for everything,
