ABC News: Some whiskey makers are afraid that they could become collateral damage in the trade war with American distilleries in the crossfire

John, I recently went on ABC News to talk about how Trump’s chaotic trade war is hurting American workers, and our neighbors in the whiskey business are not immune.

We’re talking about the trade of America’s signature spirit, and these absurd tariffs will have a disastrous impact on the $9 billion bourbon industry here in Kentucky.

We’ve seen this all play out before, John — during Trump’s first term, his 25% tariffs resulted in cutting Kentucky’s bourbon exports IN HALF. Now the proposal is for 50% tariffs.

A 50% tariff is absolutely devastating for everyone involved in bringing bourbon to market, including the farmers, coopers, union workers, and delivery drivers.

23,000 people are employed by the bourbon industry here in Kentucky, and they shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden of Trump’s ridiculous trade war.

Flipping the House in 2026 would allow us to hold Trump accountable and hinder his ability to wage trade wars with our allies. Will you chip in $25 to help keep KY-03 blue and give Dems our best shot to retake the House next year?
