In case you missed it, Senator Cory Booker just broke a record for a marathon speech he gave on the Senate floor in protest of Trump and Musk’s extreme threats to our democracy, climate, and communities.

Why should you care?

Because advocates like you have been emailing, calling, and demanding that their electeds do something about MAGA’s extreme coup. And the fact that Booker just spent all of yesterday and the night before standing in front of the Senate reading stories directly from his constituents about how Trump’s drastic cuts are taking a toll on their daily lives demonstrates that your advocacy is working.

And what happens next will require us to raise our voices again.

Because the Senate plans to vote on a spending bill that would lead to deep cuts to federal programs people rely on—all to fund a $4.5 trillion tax break for billionaires and big corporations.

If passed as proposed, the budget resolution would tee up a full reconciliation bill that could effectively eviscerate critical energy investments and tax credits that help working families and lower energy costs.

Will you email your Senators right now and tell them to vote against it?

Republicans are pushing hard for a resolution that would cut funding off permanently, going after life-saving programs like Medicaid and gutting popular Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) programs that save families money, make transportation safer and healthier, and create good-paying jobs.

At a time when people are already struggling to keep up with everyday costs, passing a budget resolution that robs the public to give tax cuts to the wealthiest people in the country would be ludicrous, and completely out-of-touch.

Senator Booker knows it, and we commend him for rising up in this moment, standing up for his constituents, and exposing the MAGA agenda for what it is: “a complete disregard for the rule of law, the Constitution, and the needs of the American people.”

If he can stand on the Senate floor for 25 hours, I hope you can take one minute to write to your Senators today about rejecting a budget resolution that would repeal IRA tax credits and other federally-funded programs that working Americans depend on.
