Q: Has the DOGE team found any evidence that any of the radical left Democrats — like Maxine Waters, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer — have received money directly from USAID?
Elon: There is a massive amount of corruption… I’m highly confident that a bunch of that money comes back to the United States and lands in the pockets of the people you just mentioned. It does not go directly, but there’s a lot of strangely wealthy members of Congress where I’m trying to connect the dots of how they get rich.
Let me connect the dots for you, Elon.
No, I do not personally benefit from USAID money. That’s a lie and you know it.
But the people who do benefit — the millions of people worldwide who are struggling with famine, disease, natural disasters, and war — are now facing catastrophic blows to their lives and communities. Just last week, there was a devastating earthquake in Myanmar — and the United States has offered no help to the area. We have abandoned the field of humanitarian aid to other countries that use it for leverage, like China. And the result will be deadly. From HIV treatment to tuberculosis treatments, people are going to die because of Elon’s disdain for the poor.
And the administration has abandoned our legacy of helping others in order to fund tax cuts for billionaires just like Elon.
It’s a disgrace.
For decades, USAID has provided vital humanitarian aid that saves lives and creates longstanding relationships with our allies.
By withdrawing all aid, we’re abandoning millions of people in desperate need of support. And we’re doing it in the cruelest fashion — refusing to help those in need to instead give tax cuts to the rich.
I’m fighting back. It goes against our country’s values to turn our backs on those suffering. And it is why Elon Musk is targeting me.
So while Elon attacks me and advocates for more massive cuts in foreign aid, I’m working to restore that aid and bring back decency to our country’s leaders. I’ve joined Senate Democrats in speaking out, protesting, and putting holds on Senate confirmations until the Trump administration backs down.
