Did anyone miss these end-of-quarter emails? I doubt it. But, I do think it’s important to remember that we are on a path to holding the Trump administration and House Republicans accountable. It’s important to remember that elections are not that far away. And it’s important to remember what we can do when we work together.
With everything going on, we have to focus on what we can accomplish now — in the Congress, in the courts, and in the community — and also focus on what we can do in the long term. And there is no doubt that there is one thing we must do: win elections.
We can reject the chaos and the cruelty that have marked these first few months of this administration. And we can take back the House. House Republicans aren’t just failing to fight back against the destruction and chaos in Washington, they are cheering it on. While winning back the House won’t fix everything, it will matter. It will mean that Congress can assert its authority that the Republicans who are now in charge have handed over to Elon Musk and his fellow MAGA billionaires. It will mean that the House can exercise oversight of the Trump administration.
So, why does tonight’s FEC fundraising deadline matter? With Trump in the White House and Republicans in charge of the House and Senate, Democrats are out of power. But we are not out of options. We have the power to fight back from now to next November. And how much money we raise–rightly or wrongly–will be seen as a sign of the strength of our coalition and the likelihood of our success. One of the most important things we can do is win back the House in 2026. And we can show that we are going to do so now. If you can, I hope you will help us by making a contribution. And if now is not a good time, there will be other opportunities, and other ways to help.
