Weathered Souls’ Black Is Beautiful campaign shows racial solidarity in craft beer

Black-owned Weathered Souls Brewing Co. in Texas initiated a collaborative effort to raise awareness around injustice and add more diverse voices to the craft beer industry. Just 24 hours after the project launched to brew Black Is Beautiful stout and encourage donations to local justice organizations more than 80 breweries had signed on. Only 24 hours after that, the number sits at more than 225.

Unemployment rate drops

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. economy added 2.5 million jobs in May and the unemployment rate fell to 13.3 percent. As NBWA Chief Economist Lester Jones noted on LinkedIn, employment growth saw the largest gains in leisure and hospitality, construction, health services and retail trade which will eventually help the on-premise beer market recovery.

NBA season to restart in Orlando
