On Wednesday, Governor Walz and state leaders held a briefing to discuss the state’s efforts to respond to avian flu in Minnesota. The Governor's revised budget includes an appropriation of $4 million to the Agricultural Emergency Account to support Minnesota farmers.
"In the last year Minnesota farmers have had to weather extreme flooding, drought, new tariffs, and the spread of avian flu," said Governor Walz. "Today I’m recommending an additional $4 million to help our poultry and livestock producers respond to the effects of avian flu."
Also on Wednesday, Governor Walz joined veterans and caregivers at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center to rally against the Trump Administration's proposed plan to cut 83,000 jobs nationwide from the VA.
"I joined our veterans, and the good folks who serve them, at the Minneapolis VA to make sure Trump knows our veterans don't want to see 83,000 caregivers fired," said Governor Walz.
