Making American Safe Again: MS-13 Gang Leader Apprehended

On Thursday morning, President Trump announced that U.S. authorities apprehended a 24-year-old illegal immigrant, identified as one of the top three leaders of the MS-13 gang in the United States. MS-13 is one of the most dangerous transnational gangs in the world, known for brutal tactics including murder, extortion, sexual violence, and drug trafficking.

Over the past four years, our nation saw a resurgence of violent gangs like MS-13, as President Biden’s weak and irresponsible immigration policies enabled aggravated criminals to roam freely in our communities. The swift apprehension of this dangerous MS-13 leader demonstrates, yet again, that President Trump's border security policies are both effective and essential in keeping dangerous criminals off our streets. Americans can finally breathe a sigh of relief, knowing his administration will stop at nothing to protect our communities.

As chairman emeritus and current vice chair of the Homeland Security Committee, I look forward to continuing my work in Congress to help support President Trump, Secretary Noem, and others in closing our borders and making America safe again.

Safeguarding American Technology From Our Enemies

This week, the Trump administration imposed new export controls to block the sale of U.S. technology — like supercomputing, artificial intelligence, and more — to several Chinese-linked companies.

These new restrictions are a critical step toward strengthening national security — putting a stop to the Chinese Communist Party’s continued exploitation and abuse of American technology to fuel its military buildup and surveillance state. While the CCP may try to steal our technology, that doesn’t mean we should be selling it to them. While I was chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I repeatedly urged the Biden administration to take this threat seriously, but instead, they consistently chose policies that projected weakness and appeased communist China. I’m incredibly grateful President Trump and his team are demonstrating the boldness needed to keep sensitive U.S. technologies out of the CCP’s hands.
