A devastating earthquake just hit Myanmar, and millions of children are in danger.
UNICEF is on the ground in Myanmar. And UNICEF’s emergency efforts aren’t possible without supporters like you. If you’re able to give, you can help send critical support to children in Myanmar and around the world.
Following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in central Myanmar and a wave of aftershocks, UNICEF is assessing the situation on the ground and is ready to respond to children and families in urgent need of aid. Initial reports show severe damage to buildings and roads in Sagaing, Nay Pyi Daw and Mandalay, urban centers that are home to hundreds of thousands of children. The impact of today’s earthquake will be devastating, and as rescue efforts continue, casualties are expected to rise.
The complex crises in Myanmar are only exacerbated by natural disaster: Myanmar is in its fourth year of escalating conflict, and millions of children already live in fear, displacement and deepening poverty. UNICEF has been working in Myanmar as the country continues to struggle with growing humanitarian needs. Despite facing severe funding shortages, UNICEF remains committed to the humanitarian response to fulfill the needs of children and women in Myanmar.
Every second counts in emergency response and recovery. Please, Yourdon’t wait to send relief: |
We'll be in touch with further updates as the situation on the ground evolves.
