Dear John:

This has been a painful and inspiring two weeks.

George Floyd was murdered by police on May 25–a horrific moment in a war on Black people that stretches back to slavery and Jim Crow. Another demonstration by cops and public officials that Black lives are expendable, combined with ongoing nationwide police violence, has pushed our country past the breaking point.

People’s Action believes in safety and peace for Black people, for all people. Our members are in the fight, and we stand alongside Black leaders in cities across the country fighting for Black lives. Together, we demand an end to the war against Black people.

Here are four things you can do today:

  1. Join the Movement For Black Lives’ Facebook rally in defense of Black lives today at 2 p.m. Eastern.

  2. Sign up for a call with the Movement for Black Lives and The Rising Majority on Saturday at 1 p.m. Eastern about how we can show up in defense of Black lives.

  3. Demand divestment from police and investment in Black communities.

  4. Split a donation between 70+ community bail funds, mutual aid funds, and racial justice organizers

Our country is being rocked by COVID-19, mass unemployment, and white supremacist violence. It will take all of us uniting to demand real action from public officials to get out of this crisis. Thank you for standing with us.

In solidarity,

Bree Carlson
