leave trans people alone challenge
Trans people wake up in the morning and have to worry about the same things as everyone else — how to afford groceries, pay rent, and finally end that situationship that’s gone on for way, way too long. Except they also have to worry about crusty Republicans attempting to erase their existence.
While other recent polls and punditry may make it seem like all hope is lost for supporters of trans rights, we find that when Americans are confronted with real-life scenarios and policy implications, they are often very skeptical of anti-trans bans. For instance, in our new poll of U.S. adults, a majority believe families and doctors, not the government, should make decisions about medical care for transgender youth.

Similarly, a slight plurality of adults believe that local school districts and sports associations, not the federal government, should set rules about transgender athletes’ participation. And adults are also opposed to the Trump admin banning transgender service members, calling for teachers who support trans students to be prosecuted, and removing critical LGBTQ+ information from federal websites.
If this last week has shown us anything, it’s that Trump’s team really does not understand the idea of privacy. But maybe our private lives (and our group chats) should stay private? Leave trans people alone challenge!

The rats don’t run this city — unless they run for mayor
New Yorkers are truly in the bad place right now — and no, we’re not talking about Times Square. Unfortunately, the mayor is too busy allegedly taking Turkish bribes at the “table of success” to bring down the rent, and the Mets already lost their first game of the season. It’s rough out here.
And on June 24, New York Democrats will vote in the ranked choice primary for mayor. As the Onion wisely stated, “Not So Easy To Find A Mayor That Doesn’t Suck Sh*t, Huh?”
We ran a poll of likely Democratic primary voters in NYC and found that former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo currently leads the pack with 39% of the vote. He’s followed by State Assemblymember (and viral sensation) Zohran Mamdani with 15%, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander with 8%, and incumbent Mayor Adams with 7%.

In our ranked choice voting simulation, the disgraced former governor secures more than 50% of the vote in round seven, and comfortably wins all demographic groups except for voters under age 45. Young progressives, NOW is the time to start bugging your parents, grandparents, neighbors, and bodega guys about this election. With less than 90 days to go, it will take a lot of work to catch up to Cuomo’s lead.
But you never know what could happen in NYC — as Mayor Adams actually said one time, New York is truly “a place where every day you wake up you could experience everything from a plane crashing into our Trade Center to a person who’s celebrating a new business that’s open.” Greatest city in the world, baby!

One battle after another…
It feels like everything these days is trying to scam us. Our phones are getting spammed with fake toll road evasion notices. Our boyfriends keep getting sucked into March Madness sports gambling apps. And you’ve got social media influencers trying to get us to dunk our faces in Saratoga sparkling water every morning. In this economy??
That’s why we love and respect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a government agency set up after the 2008 financial crisis to protect consumers from abuses by banks and other financial companies. It’s the only organization left that’s trying to protect consumers, not rip us off. Of course, that means the Trump administration is trying to get rid of it.
In February, the Trump administration ordered a halt to all work at the CFPB. And this week, the Senate voted to overturn a CFPB rule capping the overdraft fees that banks can charge.
In our poll, respondents were presented with a list of government functions — including several that have recently been targeted by the Trump administration — and asked how important they believe each is.
While a majority of voters view each item as “very important” or “somewhat important,” “protecting consumers from financial exploitation from banks and other financial companies” ranks second-highest, with an overwhelming 89% of voters viewing it as an important function.

Folks, we have Doordash out here partnering with Klarna to allow people to pay off their food deliveries in installments. With corporations literally making it easier for people to go into debt for drunken Taco Bell orders, the CFPB may be one of our last lines of defense left.
