Earlier this month my family and I participated in the kick-off to 40 Days for Life outside of our local Planned Parenthood. It was not my first time praying outside of an abortion facility, but it was the first time that my kids joined me.

Earlier this month my family and I participated in the kick-off to 40 Days for Life outside of our local Planned Parenthood. It was not my first time praying outside of an abortion facility, but it was the first time that my kids joined me.

Before the event, I wondered if my children would understand the significance of what we were doing that day. Would they be able to grasp why we were there and what it is we’re fighting against?

As the day progressed, my doubts disappeared. The truth is that the heart of a child can often perceive what many adults have become calloused against. By praying together as a family for the ending of abortion, important conversations were sparked, and we were able to help our children understand why it’s good to get involved with this difficult and heavy issue.

John, have you ever participated in a 40 Days for Life event? If not, I highly encourage you to do so and to bring along your family and friends as well. Your compassionate, prayerful presence outside of an abortion facility is a powerful witness for life.

According to former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, the presence of pro-life individuals praying outside of abortion facilities can lead to as high as 75% of women abandoning their abortion appointments!
