Dear MoveOn member,
Donald Trump's actions may be chaotic, but they aren't random.
From sicking Elon Musk's chainsaw on Social Security and Medicaid to illegally jailing legal residents to threatening judges who attempt to block his actions, they're all part of one big power grab.
That's why MoveOn and partners are bringing together our members for a mass call to help all of us make sense of the current moment, understand the connection between all the attacks on our communities, public services, and Constitution, and hear what it’s going to take to defend our communities and all we hold dear against Trump’s power grab.
RSVP now for the "Hands Off! Mass Call for Mobilizing Against Trump's Power Grab" on Tuesday, April 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 PT! Our movement for progress is coming together to reject and stop Trump's power grabs and attacks on our communities. During the call, you'll hear from movement leaders from MoveOn, the American Federation of Teachers, Indivisible, the National Education Association, Social Security Works, and more.
What you can expect on the call:
-
Hear about the the legal challenges to Trump’s illegal moves, like the detention of Mahmoud Khalil and the defying of court orders
-
Hear from movement leaders at the front lines fighting to protect our public services like Social Security, public education, and more
-
The purpose of and how to get involved with the April 5 Hands Off! nationwide mobilization
Speakers include Rahna Epting, MoveOn; Randi Weingarten, American Federation of Teachers; Deirdre Schifeling, ACLU; Ezra Levin, Indivisible; Kim Anderson, National Education Association; Alex Lawson, Social Security Works; Alissa Tafti, Federal Unionist Network; and more.
Trump and Elon Musk destroy everything they can get their hands on and try to punish anyone who stands in their way. Trump recently asserted that a federal judge should be impeached for blocking the administration from doing something it wants to do, even if it's deemed unconstitutional. Trump is working every angle to squash dissent against his extreme agenda—whether it be student protesters, independent reporters, judges, or political opponents.
But we are united and are not giving up.
You may have already heard about, or perhaps have already signed up for, the nationwide Hands Off! April 5 mobilization to fight back against Trump and Musk's power grab. There are already more than 700 events with over 100,000 people planning to show up. It's going to take all of us coming together visibly and repeatedly to stop these power grabs and attacks on our communities.
Ahead of these mobilizations, join movement leaders, experts, and more for a mass call on Tuesday, April 1, to make sense of the Trump administration's unprecedented power grab, efforts to remove limits to its power, and what we can do to confront it on April 5 and beyond. Thanks for all you do.
–Kelsey, David, Gabi, Chris, and the rest of the team
P.S. Check out if there is an April 5 Hands Off! event near you and RSVP here!
