Celebrating the 2025 New American Hero Awards

John, put your hands together for our next 2025 New American Hero! 👏🏾

We are honored to introduce to you a fearless, trailblazing advocate who has inspired many leaders inside and outside the New American Leaders network. Please give it up for former Arizona State Senator and Phoenix City Councilwoman-elect Anna Hernandez!

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Anna is the daughter of hard-working, Mexican-born parents. Before running for office, Anna spent most of her career in banking, specializing in mortgage lending followed by commercial lending. After her little brother, Alex, was killed by Phoenix Police, she found her purpose in the community and began her advocacy work with a heavy focus on police accountability. Anna is rooted in community and pro-humanity and will fight for the right thing even if it is unpopular. Her work focuses on how to get critical resources for her community members and improve the material conditions for those most impacted by system issues.

Please join us in congratulating Anna for her dedication and honoring her as a New American Hero on June 26th in Washington, D.C.! ❤️‍🔥

As an elected official and community advocate, Anna’s commitment to creating a more inclusive democracy for our communities is awe-inspiring. We hope you’ll join us this Immigrant Heritage Month as we celebrate Anna and her incredible journey and steadfast leadership.

Are you interested in supporting the celebrations in Anna’s honor? Do you just want to help take the party to the next level? 🥳 Let us know! Become a sponsor for the 2025 New American Hero Awards and power our movement.
