The Senate Intelligence Committee usually conducts its work behind closed doors in order to protect our nation’s secrets—but yesterday, we convened for a rare public hearing, where we questioned America’s top intelligence officials.

Before I tell you more about the careless, incompetent behavior toward classified information by the Trump administration, I’m asking if you can pitch in to support my reelection campaign and Sheldon Whitehouse so we can flip the Senate blue and continue to hold the Trump administration accountable >> [link removed]

I opened the hearing by addressing the news about the incredibly sloppy group chat containing war plans. It's just mind-boggling to me.

But let me be clear: this group text fiasco is not a one-off.

The Trump administration’s systemic degradation of our intelligence community is on full display every day. They continue to undertake actions that damage our ability to combat threats.

Ending foreign assistance. Firing our most experienced FBI agents. Firing the staff responsible for overseeing the safety and security of our country’s nuclear stockpile. Voting in the United Nations with Russia. We are not made safer by these actions.

You deserve leaders who will make our country safer and stronger. That’s why I’m going to get to the bottom of things. But that makes me a Republican target. The GOP will do anything to defeat me next year.

I pledge to have your back in the Senate and do everything I can to hold the Trump administration responsible. So please, split a contribution between my campaign and Sheldon Whitehouse to protect this seat, defeat the Republican Senate majority, and elect Democrats across the country.
