Kia ora John,

<[link removed]>We know the health and wellbeing of our people and our economy relies on a healthy environment.

As we start to move into a new, safer normal here in New Zealand, we’re determined to use this moment to reflect on how we can do things a bit differently, especially when it comes to safeguarding our most precious asset: the environment.

Since we came into Government we’ve worked hard to deliver on our promise to protect New Zealand’s ecosystem - from banning single-use plastic bags to passing the Zero Carbon Act - but we know there’s more to do and now, more than ever, is the time to take the next steps towards a cleaner, greener, New Zealand.

We have the chance to build back better, for our people and for our planet - and we’re not going to let it go to waste.

In this year’s Budget, we invested in nature to protect our precious environment for generations to come. From upgrading walking tracks, to wetland restoration, to pest eradication, these important projects will not only create thousands of local jobs, they will help protect our environment and clean up waterways, so Kiwis can take in the beauty of New Zealand and swim safely in their local rivers and lakes.

We’re proud of our record on the environment but we’re even more proud to call New Zealand’s beautiful landscape home. Today, on World Environment Day, we’re celebrating our unique environment, and committing to doing all we can to protect it.

By choosing to do things differently and to build back better, together, we can make our environment healthier and our economy stronger than ever.

Thanks,

Labour Campaigns Team

A short note on donations:
John, recently our focus has been on helping communities through COVID-19. It wasn’t a time for political campaigning, but instead a time for concentrating on the welfare of our communities.
This was absolutely the right decision. But pausing our campaign meant we also put all of our fundraising activity on hold too. So now we’ve restarted our campaign, we’re asking for the help of supporters to help get us back on track.
We recognise that not everyone is in a position to make a financial contribution, and there are many other ways to support our movement. However, if you are able to, please click the button below to make a donation to our campaign fund today.
