Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

FIXING OUTDATED DISASTER PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Farmers, ranchers, growers, and producers are the backbone of FL-18’s economy, yet outdated income restrictions have delayed critical aid, leaving many struggling to rebuild after recent hurricanes. Adjusted gross income (AGI) limitations, which haven’t kept pace with inflation, have unfairly disqualified specialty crop producers from accessing essential USDA disaster relief programs. That’s why I cosponsored the Fair Access to Agriculture Disaster Programs Act to remove these income-based barriers and ensure all producers can receive the federal disaster aid they need when it matters most.

TEACHING THE HORRIFIC REALITIES OF COMMUNISM

Image

Communist regimes have a long, sordid history of suppressing freedoms, imprisoning dissenters and killing millions. Unfortunately, many schools fail to properly educate students on these dangers. Some programs, like Confucius classrooms, have even promoted a sanitized, CCP-approved view of communism in U.S. K-12 education. Alarmingly, one-third of millennials and Gen Z support dismantling capitalism. That’s why I cosponsored the Crucial Communism Teaching Act, ensuring schools receive curriculum from the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to educate students on the dangers of communism and its fundamental opposition to American ideals.
