The House must stop the unnecessary and harmful $1 billion D.C. budget cut <[link removed]>

The House of Representatives returns to work today. Last week, we urged Representatives to immediately vote to pass the District of Columbia Local Funds Act of 2025, which would restore one billion dollars in local spending authority in the District. Without swift action, the continuing resolution recently passed by the House and Senate to avoid a government shutdown would force the District to deal with one billion dollars in budget cuts that are completely avoidable. Head to our website <[link removed]> to stay updated on the bill's progress.

What D.C. Home Rule is, how it works, and why it matters. <[link removed]>

Chances are that D.C. home rule has been on your mind lately. In addition to the proposed $1 billion budget cut, members of Congress recently introduced a bill to repeal D.C. home rule, and President Trump has said he wants to "take over" D.C. Such news has left many people with questions. Can President Trump take over D.C.? What is D.C. home rule? How does it work? And why does it matter? Here are some answers <[link removed]> to these pressing questions.

Federal judge blocks Trump administration's unlawful removal of immigrants <[link removed]>

Along with our partners, we immediately challenged the president's unlawful and unprecedented invocation of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act on March 15. The lawsuit charges that President Trump intends to invoke the centuries-old wartime act unlawfully during peacetime to accelerate mass deportations. A federal judge blocked these removals, but the fight continues.
