Comm 59: Talking Points That Are True: Practical messaging for media and speaking that strengthen the Church and the nation We are at place in our nation’s history we’ve been at before. Once before we’ve emerged from darkness and grabbed the light, the right, the true, the Godly life for our nation. An awakening. But for a hundred years the American Church has slowly been squeezed to a silent dying fringe, and prayers were made for its rebirth. They have been answered. The Church has been reinvigorated praise God. Our nation has shoved away lies and now passionately wants truth. We want freedom, and we have a chance now with a new leadership that loves God, and seeks to quickly right a whole bunch of wrongs. The old regime has been swept out, and the culprit media is halfway out the door with it. Weakened but not dead, gasping for breath but able to fight for its old control, bad media is still trying to sow doubt into what many people are calling a miracle of deliverance for our Christian founded country. We want to extinguish evil and move boldly into freedom. And keep it, clutch it. And here we come round to you, because the Church is the key to this. And media is the key to truth reaching all. What do you need? Maybe two things; a massive amplification of your voice through truth-telling media (more good media platforms), and then also accurate powerful messaging for it. Talking points that are true. Chad, Brad, Kielle, and I thought we could help with this. Here are some of our best ideas to help the Church take its rightful position as the voice of our nation’s identity. (Keep reading below for talking points from Joan!) COMM 59 Video ______________________________________________________________ Commentary from one of our Coalition Leaders... Joan Lindsey, Founder and President of Lindsey Communications; Media Strategy and Consulting Warmest greetings to you pastors. We agree, this is your time to lead the nation. Truth has been covered up and is ready for a reveal. Chad has been advising us that you all need messaging help. Absolutely, please allow me to assist. When you talk to the public or media, recognize you are two components; content (the words you actually say) and your delivery (how you personally come across saying it). Let’s do content first; talking points are critical. They are developed as short accurate memorable statements a brief paragraph long, using logic to defeat an accusation, or beat back mis-information. It includes a headline type summary statement. That makes sure people remember your point. I will give you three samples, and my absolute best source to develop them, The Founders Bible. This is a full Bible with over 200 articles written by America’s foremost historian David Barton demonstrating exactly how America is and has always been a Biblical nation. Available on WallBuildlers.com A point of interest: Top podcaster Joe Rogan has just received one. Talking points example 1: Accusation: America is not a Christian nation Response: While you don’t have to be a Christian to live in the United States, it is necessary to respect its Constitution. That Constitution is sourced from the Christian Bible and directs the American government to pattern its laws and conduct after Biblical precepts. Therefore, America is rightly called a Christian nation. Christians still make up the majority of its citizens (67% Gallup poll 2023). For example: In the old Supreme Court Chamber in the U.S. Capitol a mural of Moses giving the 10 Commandments is depicted as a centerpiece of the room to denote its central place in our laws. Your summary statement: Our history, Constitution, and laws prove our Christian identity. Founders’ Bible Articles: A Pledge of Adherence, The Ten Commandments: The Moral Law for Nations, This Nation Under God Talking points example 2: Accusation: Our Constitution mandates a separation of Church and State. Response: The Constitution says no such thing. What it does say in the First Amendment is that the State (the government) may not order citizens to worship only an approved religion, and that citizens may freely choose any or none. The State is to keep its hands off individual freedom here; “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. The Constitution does NOT direct the Church to separate itself out from involvement in the government. For example: Our first President George Washington warned the nation in his final address, to include religion in politics. “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.” Your summary statement: Our nation’s Constitution prohibits the State from interfering with the Church, not the other way around. Founders’ Bible Article: Separation of Church and State: Its Original Intent Talking points example 3: Accusation: There is nothing wrong with gay+ love. Love is love and it’s all good. You are a bad person if you disagree. Response: Ha, I am going to let you use the Founders’ Bible to find the absolutely 100% best Biblical response out there. Here’s where to look though. Founders’ Bible Article: “Hey Dad, I Am Puzzled”. A Dad’s Response to His Son’s Question About Homosexuality. OK and a supersonic quick word on delivery, the way you come across expressing your content. Optics are powerful; look healthy; very polished very groomed. Critical point; an upright posture and eye contact always which messages health. Use a strong, paced, warm voice. Voice will make you or break you. To beat nerves, script, and rehearse which ensures the most credible delivery. Wish I had time for more, but I hope this has been helpful for you. My script for this is in this email for you. God bless you! —Joan ______________________________________________________________ The Church Finds Its Voice Leadership Coalition Joan Holt Lindsey, Owner and Founder of Lindsey Communications Chad Connelly, Founder and President of Faith Wins Brad Dacus, Founder and President of Pacific Justice Institute Kielle Lindsey is the President of the Lindsey Foundation ______________________________________________________________ SERMON SHOWCASE WALLBUILDERS: America’s Best Historical Sermons for Your Consideration First Sermon: American Institutions & the Bible – 1876 Sermon Overview This timeless sermon unfolds the mystery of what the Bible actually is to our nation, and why our Constitution, our laws, and our national identity is entirely wrapped up in it. A 30,000 foot view of our nation and what has made it blessed. Second Sermon: Atlantic Telegraph – 1858 Sermon Overview When the TransAtlantic cable was laid, instant communication was suddenly possible for the first time between America and England. It was a forerunner of today’s media as we know it; a form of broadcast. God was understood to have blessed it, and made the impossible possible. Why did He? How was communication to be used to bless not destroy….to unite not divide? This brilliant sermon explains the surprising mandate for a Christian country to use the power of media communication. _______________________________________________________________________ NOW, WHERE WAS THAT AGAIN?
