Friend, For too long, the LGBTQ+ community in Missouri has been marginalized and ignored. It is now 2020, and my state refuses to implement basic commonsense protections against discrimination in employment and housing, and somehow still permits dangerous and morally repugnant practices like conversion therapy. Often when I travel throughout the District, I hear LGBTQ+ youth describing how much it means to them to see an openly LGBTQ+ person running for Congress in their communities—how it makes them feel safer, and more comfortable with their identity in a region where coming out is potentially dangerous. Representation matters. Up and down the ballot, it’s well past time to elect new leaders who care about the rights and equality of all people, no matter their identity, race, gender, or zip code. When I’m elected in November, I’ll be the first openly LGBTQ+ congressperson from the state of Missouri. It’s time for this to happen. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: To those young leaders I meet on the trail I say: know that you are not alone; you are not “wrong” or “weird”; and you are perfect the way you are. Stay strong. The future belongs to tolerance, to love, and understanding—not to hate. In Solidarity,
