Elon Musk is dismantling Social Security from the inside.
First, he fired the acting commissioner and replaced them with a DOGE crony. Then, his team of untrained ideologues gained unauthorized access to Social Security data, putting Americans’ private information at risk.[1]
Now, the Social Security Administration is in chaos, thousands of workers have been fired, dozens of field offices are being closed, and millions of beneficiaries are at risk.[2] Congress must act now to stop this disaster before it’s too late.
Rep. John Larson has introduced urgent legislation to block Musk’s Social Security takeover, stop office closures, and protect Americans’ personal data. But we need a tidal wave of public pressure to force Congress to act.

Musk isn’t just attacking Social Security, he’s working to rig the entire system for billionaires like himself.
Right now, the wealthiest Americans contribute almost nothing compared to working people. Social Security taxes only apply to the first $176,100 of earnings, which means Musk is done paying into the system before most people have even had their first cup of coffee on January 1st.
If billionaires paid into Social Security at the same rate as the rest of us, the program would be fully funded for generations to come.[3] But instead of fixing this, Musk and Trump are trying to gut Social Security from within, cutting staff, closing offices, and threatening the livelihoods of millions of beneficiaries.

No one voted to cut Social Security, but Elon Musk and Trump’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has launched an all-out assault on the Social Security Administration (SSA).
First, Musk fired Social Security’s acting commissioner and replaced her with a DOGE crony. Then, his untrained, ideological lackeys stormed the SSA, gaining unauthorized access to personal Social Security data. Now, thousands of experienced SSA workers have been fired or forced out, leaving our Social Security system on the verge of collapse.[1]
Social Security’s most recent Senate-confirmed commissioner warns that these reckless actions could cause the system to fail within 30 to 90 days.[2] That means millions of Americans—retirees, people with disabilities, and survivors—could be left without the benefits they’ve worked for their entire lives.
Congress must act immediately to stop Musk and Trump’s destruction of Social Security. Representative John Larson has introduced legislation to block DOGE’s attacks, stop office closures, and protect Americans’ Social Security data. But we need overwhelming public pressure to get Congress to act.

DOGE’s so-called “review” of Social Security data isn’t an effort to root out fraud, it’s a blatant attempt to dismantle a program that supports millions while billionaires like Musk avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
And that’s especially true of Social Security taxes: Musk stops paying into Social Security before his New Year’s champagne even goes flat because right now, Social Security taxes only apply to the first $176,100 of a person’s income.
That means that just minutes into January 1st, Musk and other billionaires have already paid everything they’ll contribute into Social Security for the entire year, while working people contribute with every single paycheck. If we required billionaires and multimillionaires to pay more of their fair share, we could protect and expand Social Security for generations to come.[3]
We must fight back. Musk and Trump are working in secret to sabotage Social Security, but if we generate a massive public outcry, we can force Congress to act before it’s too late.
