From the moment Donald Trump took office, he has relentlessly attacked environmental justice, issuing dozens of executive orders that undo environmental protections, undermine our climate goals, eliminate environmental justice offices and positions, and froze crucial federal funds.

Last week was no different. Trump-appointed EPA head Lee Zeldin proudly declared the “most consequential day of deregulation in American history”-- a historic move to roll back dozens of hard-fought environmental regulations that protect our air and water.

By undoing these essential protections, Administrator Zeldin and President Trump are encouraging polluters to expose people across the country to even more toxic air pollution from power plants, release tons of waste into our drinking water, and “unleash” never-before-seen levels of greenhouse gas emissions driving the climate crisis. 

These actions will have disastrous and deadly consequences for millions of Americans, especially people of color and low-income people who already have disproportionate rates of illness, cancer, and premature death from pollution and climate change.

WE ACT for Environmental Justice has been fighting this battle for 37 years and counting, and won’t back down now while the federal government violates our right to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment.
