[[link removed]]John,

What would happen to wildlife in our national parks, wildlife refuges, and other
public lands if motorized mountain bikes, or E-bikes, are allowed on backcountry
and other non-motorized trails?

We don’t know. But that hasn’t stopped the Department of Interior from making a
proposal to allow mechanically-powered bikes on those trails without any
analysis on what impact E-bikes will have on wildlife, the trails themselves, or
on other recreationists.

Tell the administration to rescind its proposal to allow E-bikes on
non-motorized trails until they study what impact these motors may have on
wildlife, public lands, and other recreationists.

Without conducting any environmental analysis as to the potential impacts of
allowing this rule change, there could be significant negative impacts to our
public lands, waters, and wildlife populations.

We know that motorized vehicles have an impact on all kinds of wildlife
including elk, mule deer, and songbirds like warblers. Wildlife should be
allowed to migrate, feed, and mate in areas that have long prohibited motorized
travel. E-bikes use motors. Before setting a bad precedent and making a rule change to allow these electric
motors on non-motorized trails, the public needs to know what the impacts could
be on birds, wildlife, and the lands they cherish.

Tell the leaders at these agencies to do their jobs: they should rescind
proposals to allow motorized electric bikes on non-motorized trails until they
complete adequate analysis.

While most Americans have been staying at home and planning for when they can
safely get out on their favorite trails, the Department of Interior has issued
controversial plans that could wreck future plans for getting back to nature.
Human-powered mountain bikers, hikers, hunters, anglers, and bird watchers have
fought for years to keep E-bikes off backcountry and non-motorized trails.

Thank you for lending your voice today for wildlife and the lands and waters
they call home.

Sincerely,

Tracy Stone-Manning
