The government funding bill passed by GOP majorities in Congress last week is disastrous for a multitude of reasons. One that cannot be overlooked is that it cedes Congress’s power to review tariffs proposed by President Trump.
I voted No.
House Republican leaders quietly snuck this rule change into the bill to avoid public backlash, because even they know Trump’s tariffs are wildly unpopular.
Not only is Trump’s trade war harmful to our relationships with our global allies, but it is also raising prices for Americans on everything from home products, to gas, housing, cars, and groceries.
This fight isn’t over. I’m doing everything in my power to stand up to Trump’s reckless overreach and protect the California families and businesses who will be hurt by his tariffs. If you’re with me, add your name here and send a clear message that we oppose Trump’s trade war:
Thanks for making your voice heard.
