The National Party has been allocated an $82,915 advantage. Will you help us make up the difference by donating to Labour today? <[link removed]>

Hi John,

Last Friday, the Electoral Commission announced the broadcasting allocations for the 2020 Election, and the news wasn’t good: National received $82,915 more than us.

This broadcasting allocation is decided based on things like prior election results, by-election campaigns and latest polling, and is the only money political parties are allowed to spend on their TV and radio ads for the duration of their election campaign.

Can you help us make up the $82,915 difference? <[link removed]>

Yes - I’ll help make up the difference <[link removed]>No - I can’t make a donation right now <[link removed]>This extra $82,915 means that National will have more to spend on their TV and radio ads - giving them a potential edge. This advantage could look like an extra 166 national radio slots or 210 more slots on TV.

But while National may have the advantage in terms of broadcasting allocation, we have the advantage when it comes to our people-powered movement.

And that people-power has the potential to not only overcome the broadcasting allocation difference but to even tilt the balance back in our favour. However, that will only be possible if we all collectively chip-in whatever we can.

You can close the funding gap by donating now so we can match National’s advertising. <[link removed]>

Yes - I’ll help make up the difference <[link removed]>No - I can’t make a donation right now <[link removed]>While we can’t spend our fundraising on TV or radio ads, we can invest it in highly targeted digital adverts - which may even be a better bang for our buck than TV and radio ads. But we can only spend what we raise. So please, if you can, click here to donate. <[link removed]>

Elections under MMP are always close. We can’t afford to be complacent. That means making sure we have the funds in place to deliver a winning campaign so Labour can keep delivering our proven leadership as we get New Zealand moving again.

Thank you for everything you do,

Hayden Munro

A short note on donations:
John, over the last two months our focus has been on helping communities through COVID-19. It wasn’t a time for political campaigning, but instead a time for concentrating on the welfare of our communities.
This was absolutely the right decision. But pausing our campaign meant we also put all of our fundraising activity on hold too. So now we’ve restarted our campaign, we’re asking for the help of supporters to help get us back on track.
We recognise that not everyone is in a position to make a financial contribution, and there are many other ways to support our movement. However, if you are able to, please click the button below to make a donation to our campaign fund today.
