Today, Donald Trump will likely sign an executive order to advance Project 2025 by abolishing the Department of Education.

This will gut our already underfunded public schools, slash financial aid for college, and eliminate essential protections for millions of Texas children.

Make no mistake: their endgame is the complete privatization of our schools, which would:

• Take away every child’s right to an education
• Let private schools distort curricula by revising history and banning books
• Allow unchecked discrimination inside private schools

By dismantling the Dept. of Ed, Trump is putting our children’s futures at the mercy of billionaires. 

What’s more — Trump and Education Secretary Linda McMahon (an anti-union billionaire who funneled $10 million to the Trump campaign) are emboldening Texas Republicans to push voucher scams that would steal millions from Texas public schools.

These attacks threaten the livelihoods of Texas teachers, students, and workers. They undermine their opportunities for a just and dignified future. Hardworking Texan families need us — now.
