Friend, We don’t have kings in America – and we won’t let a handful of billionaires or extremists run our country into the ground. As the threat of autocracy grows, we need to be ready to organize, mobilize, and protect the American people by defending our democracy. That’s why People For is proud to be partnering with our progressive allies to launch the Rise for Freedom Training Series – a hands-on program designed to equip grassroots organizers like you with the skills to build power in your communities. Join our kickoff call tonight, March 20, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT to learn more and get involved. >> What you’ll learn in the weekly training series: 📅 March 20 – Kickoff Call: Get an overview of the program and hear from top activists. 📅 March 27 – Organizing Under Creeping Autocracy: Understanding the threats we face. 📅 April 3 – Growing Local Power: How to build a critical mass for change. 📅 April 10 – Effective Conversations: Talking to people who may not agree with you. 📅 April 17 – Fighting Back Against Political Violence: Making it backfire. 📅 April 24 – Strengthening Community Organizing: Mutual aid & sustainable structures. 📅 May 1 – Advanced Organizing Tactics: Deepening your strategy. 📅 May 8 – Strategic Organizing: Taking action to the next level. The content will be taught online, but the hope is that you will gather your community together in your living rooms, common rooms, libraries, etc., to participate in these trainings on organizing effectively in times of creeping autocracy. There will be breakout sessions and activities where Zoom will be paused for you to do the exercises in each training in person together. For folks who are homebound, we encourage the use of Google Meet or other tools to gather a small group of people to do the breakout training exercises together so you can get the benefit of the community-building piece of the training. Today's session is specifically for those interested in hosting a local group for the training series. Join us to learn how you can bring your community into this movement, ask questions, and connect with fellow organizers.
We’re building a movement. Will you be part of it? Zach VanHouten
