Check out this recent headline, friend:

Here are some highlights from the article, which you can read in full by clicking here:
“Social Security represents a sacred promise to our seniors. Elon Musk and Donald Trump are breaking that promise every day, and Hudson Valley families are paying the price,” Ryan said in a statement. “They’re coming after our personal information, they’re closing Social Security offices, they’re mass firing staff, and they’re threatening the survival of the program itself. We’re elevating voices from across the Hudson Valley so they can hear us all the way down in Washington: hands off our Social Security.”
“Ryan, D-Gardiner, who represents the 18th Congressional District, has led an effort to keep full services in Poughkeepsie during the temporary closure of the office.”
But Ryan has said a DOGE listing is a strong foreshadowing of the possibility that the office could be permanently shuttered.
On the DOGE website’s “Wall of Receipts,” the listing says that an annual lease of the office building costs $359,135. It also says that ‘end of term planned for 7/31/25.’”
It’s no secret that Social Security has been on the top of Trump and Elon Musk’s target list – and the effects of their attacks are already being felt here in the Hudson Valley and across the country.
And just this week, a memo leaked outlining DOGE’s plans to cut Social Security’s phone services, which would have a major impact on seniors’ ability to get the benefits they earned their entire lives.
But while Trump and Elon Musk are doing everything they can to undermine our seniors, Pat has been leading the charge to protect Social Security. He introduced the “Protecting Social Security Act,” which would make it clear once and for all: there will be no cuts, your benefits are protected, and they will be easily accessible, no matter where you live.
This fight is far from over, but we’ll continue to keep you updated on everything that’s happening in Washington and how Pat is fighting back.
Thank you for reading,
Team Pat Ryan
