Korea JoongAng Daily ([link removed]) (3/18/25) reports: "Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun is set to meet with the governor of Alaska next week in Seoul and discuss Seoul's possible participation in the gas pipeline project in the U.S. state, diplomatic sources said Tuesday. In the planned meeting, the two sides are expected to discuss Seoul's potential investment in the Donald Trump administration's Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, aimed at building a nearly 1,200-kilometer (745-mile) gas pipeline from Alaska's vast North Slope to its southern port in Nikiski. Korea has been considering taking part in the project as part of apparent efforts to negotiate on new U.S. tariffs. Japan and Korea are respectively the world's second- and third-largest LNG importers."

(3/16/25) article: "A series of LNG projects proposed for Mexico’s Pacific Coast could turn the country into the region’s LNG powerhouse. According to a recent report by Gas Outlook, there are plans to build as many as five major LNG export terminals on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, potentially transforming the country into a top-tier gas exporter. According to the analysts, most of the feed gas needed to supply Mexico’s LNG terminals would largely be extracted from America’s Permian basin in Texas and New Mexico rather than sourced from Mexico, giving the South American country a big cost advantage. LNG exports from Mexico’s Pacific Coast would have 11 fewer days of travel when shipping to Asia compared to the U.S. Gulf Coast. According to Mexico Pacific Limited, the developer of the $15 billion Saguaro Energy LNG project in Sonora, currently, shipments from Louisiana and Texas pass through the Panama Canal on the way to Asia; in contrast, the journey from Mexico is as much as 55% shorter,
saving $1/MMBtu in transit costs."
Don't be foolish Europe, stick to the plan.

(3/17/25) reports: "Before Trump even entered office, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the EU’s top executive, proposed buying more American liquefied natural gas to replace the bloc’s rising Russian gas purchases. 'Why not replace it by American LNG, which is cheaper for us and brings down our energy prices?' she asked in November. But now the EU push to strike that LNG deal with Trump is holding up further EU energy sanctions, as well as fresh plans to fully quit Russian fuel. Trump’s decisions on both the LNG talks and Russian sanctions will help chart the EU’s own energy course. If the U.S. leader goes all in on an LNG deal, it would help unfreeze the EU’s Russian roadmap and may even restart the debate on phasing out Russian LNG. But if the talks lead to nothing — and there appears to have been little progress thus far — it’ll make life much harder for Brussels and EU countries fighting on alone."

(3/17/25) article: "In another blow to New Jersey’s nascent offshore wind industry, the Environmental Protection Agency has pulled a Clean Air Act permit for the Atlantic Shores project, citing President Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day executive order hitting the pause button on offshore wind. In “remanding” the permit, construction on the project cannot begin without additional review and approval by the agency. Attorneys for Atlantic Shores had argued that the executive order on offshore wind did not apply to what they say is the final permit issued by the EPA under former President Joe Biden in September. But the judge who issued the order, after Atlantic Shores declined to “voluntarily remand” its permit, wrote that the Environmental Appeals Board, an administrative tribunal that reviews EPA decisions, has “broad discretion” when pulling a permit."
