BEING PREPARED FOR THE OPENING

It has been a tough couple of weeks. Yet, we're nearing the end of our shelter-at-home period. We're coming out of an unprecedented time in our history where everything that our society has designed has been challenged: health care infrastructure, public housing, public benefits, access to information, technology, transportation and logistics, food supply, and of course law enforcement.

There's much to be learned from this experience that we've all endured together. MCN will continue to be the forum where we create a space for ideas, dialogue, and information exchange. We're also committed to educating our communities of their civic rights and helping empower them to make decisions for our collective future in this nation.

There's much work up ahead! We're focusing on ensuring that our communities get counted in the Census, #MuslimsCount2020. So far, MCN has been able to get over 1500 members counted. We're starting a virtual book club for the summer for youth, to keep up with our social justice activities beyond the school year, and we will be sure to get voter education materials out to our communities to ensure that our votes count!

Below are some of our upcoming events which I hope you can all join us in.

With Gratitude,

WHAT MCN HAS BEEN UP TO
Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to provide 186 pieces of toys to children during Eid. WIth the help of the Queens and Kensington Mutual Aid Networks, these toys were delivered just on time and to the households that most needed them!
For our Interfaith Soup Kitchen on Saturday, May 23rd, we were able to serve 88 individuals to-go meals!
On May 25th, we held a virtual  Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, Commission on Human Rights, and the Faith and Partnerships Office of the Mayor. Thanks to all who joined, we were certainly inspired by all of our speakers.
May 16th, MCN sponsored another lunch for the doctors and nurses at Bellevue hospital!
