Hi Friend,
Thanks to supporters like you, we've achieved yet another groundbreaking victory for animals. The ink is currently drying on a $287,500 settlement with regional egg producer Alderfer Poultry Farm over misleading "free-roaming" marketing claims — a win that will create lasting change for countless hens.
Our investigation and subsequent lawsuit revealed a stark reality: hens who supplied many of the eggs Alderfer marketed as "free roaming" were confined to just 1.2-to-1.6 square feet of space per bird, with many never seeing the outdoors. When outdoor access was provided, it consisted merely of wire-floored porches that could accommodate only a fraction of the birds. This reality stood in sharp contrast to consumer expectations — our research showed that 93% of consumers believe "free-roaming" means daily outdoor access.

This victory demonstrates the power of our collective voice, but our work is far from over. The industrial food system continues to mislead consumers and exploit animals, and we need your continued support to challenge these practices.
