He just cancelled his entire book tour

Hey John, it's Aru with Sunrise.

After Chuck Schumer caved and backed Trump’s disastrous budget on Friday, Sunrisers around the country got to work making banners and recruiting for protests at Schumer’s book tour this week.

Then, this morning, he got worried and abruptly canceled the entire tour. Schumer doesn’t want to face the people who his actions will impact. That’s the same reason why he had young people arrested at his office on Friday. He can cancel the tour, but he can't stop us from making our voices heard.

We’ve made a simple digital tool that sends emails to every Democratic Senator urging them to call for new leadership. Can you take 30 seconds to send some messages?

We are in the fight of our lives. Our democracy, our climate, our healthcare, our education — so much is on the line. We need political leaders who are ready to stand up and fight with us.

Chuck Schumer proved last week he’s not up for that task. He voted for Trump and Musk’s horrible budget that guts programs that millions depend on while ballooning military spending.

And — he gave up one of the only pieces of leverage Democrats have to stop Trump. This budget was the only major bill on the horizon where Republicans needed Democratic votes. Schumer could have rallied Democrats to refuse to vote for the bill until Trump met their demands. He could have demanded Trump fire Musk, that he walk back his illegal actions freezing climate investments and firing government workers.

But he didn’t. Instead, he caved. Maybe it was a well-meaning but misguided strategy or maybe because his billionaire donors actually liked some things in Trump’s budget. Whatever the reason —  it’s going to have devastating consequences for years to come.

We can’t afford even another month of this BS. We need new leadership.

Send a message to the Senate Democrats urging them to join the growing calls for new leadership in the Democratic Party.

In Solidarity,

Aru

PS. Doing this organizing takes resources. Can you chip in to help us pay for digital tools like these and supplies for protests to get our message out?
