Folks, really quickly - I just wanted to thank everybody for helping us hit our end-of-month fundraising goal. I know these are uncertain times, and I am incredibly grateful that folks like you are still willing to dig deep and invest in this campaign through it all.

This has been a moment of immense pain. We are grieving for George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, and praying that justice is served. Black Americans, reeling from repeated and systemic police violence, are also living with a pandemic that disproportionately affects their community.

People are rightfully angry. I joined the protests at Burnside Park in Providence over the weekend to stand with my neighbors in demanding justice for the Black lives we've lost and accountability for police brutality, racial profiling, and use of excessive force.

But when the nation most needed leadership, our President deployed federal police to use rubber bullets and tear gas against peaceful protesters in front of the White House - in order to clear the way for a shameful photo op. This racist egomaniac has to go. He has totally and completely failed us.

Black lives matter. It's on all of us to acknowledge that fact, work toward meaningful reforms to policing and our criminal justice system, and undo the legacy of white supremacy everywhere in America. We cannot shut down, stay silent, suppress protests, silence journalists, and stoke fear as Donald Trump has done.

We must come into the light and do the hard work. We need leaders who will build a better path forward, listening to and in conversation with our communities. I'm committed to pushing this fight forward in Congress and here in my community.

In solidarity,

-- David
