MapLight's work protecting the right to vote is part of our central focus on combating online political deception to protect our democracy. Our op-ed in the San Francisco Chronicle outlines the need to protect democracy during the current “infodemic.” We’re also calling for greater scrutiny of Facebook’s political ad policies and supporting legislation in Congress to limit microtargeting of political ads online, which create a divisive information environment and target marginalized communities with messages intended to discourage political participation.
