John,
ICE raids have escalated into a full-scale campaign of terror, targeting immigrant communities with blatant disregard for constitutional rights and basic human dignity. Heavily armed ICE agents are invading homes and workplaces, and even schools, conducting early-morning raids. Families are being torn apart without warning.
Last week, ICE made nearly 1,200 arrests in one day, according to the administration, nearly half of which were of individuals without any criminal records.
Trump’s mass deportation machine isn’t just going after undocumented people -- it’s racially profiling people of color, including U.S. citizens and legal residents. Even Native Americans and Puerto Ricans, who should never have to prove their right to live here, are being harassed and detained. ICE and Border Patrol agents have wrongfully detained American citizens simply for looking “foreign.”
Many immigrants -- including those who have lived in the U.S. for decades -- are given no opportunity to contact a lawyer before being detained. ICE has also been using deception, posing as police officers or issuing fake court summons to lure people into their custody. This is a deliberate strategy to spread fear in targeted communities.
Send a message to Congress now: Do everything in your power to stop Trump’s racist mass deportations!
Meanwhile, ICE detention centers have become humanitarian nightmares, plagued by medical neglect, sexual abuse, and inhumane conditions. Immigrant children have died in ICE custody, and women have been forcibly sterilized without their consent. During Trump’s first term, thousands of children were separated from their families, many of whom were never reunited.
Now, the Trump administration has even begun to send immigrants to Guantanamo, the infamous site of Iraq War-era illegal detentions and torture, where Trump has announced plans to detain more than 30,000 immigrants. How many more families will be torn apart? How much more cruelty will be inflicted?
This administration is empowering ICE, the Customs & Border Patrol, and the FBI, to ignore the law, abuse their power, and endanger communities nationwide.
Some government officials and advocacy organizations are fighting back in court, but Congress must do more. Lawmakers must defund ICE raids and detention centers, conduct oversight visits to expose inhumane conditions, and publicly denounce these abuses. But they will only act if we demand it.
Send a message to Congress now: This is racist, unconstitutional, and morally indefensible. Stand up, fight back, and stop Trump’s racist deportation agenda!
We cannot stay silent in the face of such cruelty. Thank you for taking action.
