Dear Friend,
We’ve got an emergency and need your help to protect public education.
Can you join MomsRising, our partners at the National Education Association, and Congressional leaders and other advocates at the Rally to Protect Students and Public Schools this Wednesday, February 12th, at 4 PM outside the US Capitol?
What’s happening? Education is the cornerstone of democracy, and schools are where we learn to engage with society in meaningful ways. Still, parents, students, and educators across the country are experiencing a climate where far-right attacks have made our schools playgrounds for partisan politics and division.
Why? Educators, parents, community leaders, and elected officials are coming together to protect students and public schools. The push to dismantle the Department of Education isn't just politics—it's a direct attack on students' futures. If successful, it will mean overcrowded classrooms, fewer resources for vulnerable students, cuts to services for students with disabilities, the loss of job training programs, higher costs for college, and weakened civil rights protections.
As parents and caregivers, we want quality, inclusive schools that support ALL students. Schools that teach accurate information, support students of all abilities, and schools that create a sense of belonging and a culture of opportunity where students and communities can thrive. Unfortunately, President Trump’s nominee to lead the U.S. Department of Education, Linda McMahon, is wholly unqualified. And yet, her confirmation hearings are set to begin Thursday of this week!
On top of that, Trump has said he hopes to put his next Education Secretary out of the job once he eliminates the Department of Education. This puts our children and educators at serious risk!
This is not what we want or what our students need! We will not be silent! It’s time to make our voices heard and make a clear call to ensure every student has the resources they need to succeed!
Join MomsRising, our partners at the National Education Association, and Congressional leaders at the Rally to Protect Students and Public Schools this Wednesday, February 12th, at 4 PM outside the US Capitol. Rain, Snow, or Shine!
We hope to see you, your family, your friends, and your extra warm layers on Wednesday!
