John,
The Local Voices, Local Choices Act has been reintroduced at the legislature and is up for its first Senate hearing THIS Thursday! Also known as the RCV Local Option Bill , this legislation would empower cities, counties, and school districts to adopt Ranked Choice Voting for their local elections—giving communities the choice to improve their elections with a more inclusive and representative system.
We need to pack the room to show strong public support! Can we count on you to be there?
📅 When: Thursday, February 13, 2025
📍 Where: Senate Office Building, State Capitol, Room 1200
🗳️ What: Elections Committee Hearing — Wear your orange RCV shirt!
Carried by Elections Chair Sen. Jim Carlson and coauthored by Senators Westlin, Cwodzinski, and Hauschild , this bill would:
1. Give voters in every Minnesota city the local control they need to choose RCV for their local elections.
2. Allow existing RCV cities flexibility in choosing odd- or even-year election cycles.
3. Provide consistent implementation standards for the use of RCV.
Getting this bill through the Senate is a top priority, and we need your support to make it happen! Sign up now to let us know you'll be there:
