The GOP has one goal, team: March us toward a national abortion ban. 

House Republicans recently passed legislation that treats doctors and other medical professionals like criminals, demonizes grieving women, and accuses mothers of killing their newborn infants. 

This issue is personal to Katherine. Years ago, she learned through a routine sonogram that doctors could no longer detect a heartbeat for her unborn child, and she would need to undergo emergency abortion care to prevent an infection. She even asked for more time with the hope that doctors would eventually be able to pick up a heartbeat. 

Stories like Katherine’s are horrible, painful situations that women and their families find themselves in — and unfortunately one that can be told by so many women in this country. 

It’s disgraceful that Republicans are trying to inject politics into these moments of grief. 

One-third of all counties in the United States currently have no obstetric care, and OB/GYNs are fleeing states with abortion bans or leaving the field altogether — leaving millions of women nationwide without access to critical reproductive care because of Republican efforts to restrict reproductive freedom.

That’s why Katherine is fighting hard against the GOP’s plans to pass a national abortion ban. She’s determined to restore the reproductive rights that were ripped away from women and ensure that Republicans are kept out of the personal decisions meant for a woman and her doctor.
