Katcef Brothers produces over 7,000 PPE masks

When COVID-19 struck, some employees at Katcef Brothers, a Maryland-based distributor, shifted from their regular assignments to sewing personal protective equipment (PPE) masks for local medical professionals, first responders, underserved people in their communities and their employees. Katcef Brothers provided the supplies and their efforts surpassed the initial goal of 5,000 PPE masks for a total of 7,245 masks produced.

Silver Eagle Beverages donates to Texas Restaurant Association

Today, Silver Eagle Beverages announced a $75,000 donation to the Texas Restaurant Association’s Relief Fund, an initiative of the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation (TRAEF). The fund provides immediate financial support to independent restaurants and their employees.

Memorial Day Weekend beer sales

Off-premise beer category dollar sales topped $1 billion heading into the Memorial Day holiday, according to the latest one-week data shared by market research firm Nielsen. Even as one-week sales topped $1 billion in off-premise retailers, Nielsen noted that growth rates for alcoholic beverages have begun to decelerate.

Will hike for beer

Virginia-based Devils Backbone Brewing Company wants to pay a “Chief Hike Officer” to hike the Appalachian Trail. The journey will go through 14 states, from Georgia to Maine, with plenty of beer along the way.
