Dear Friend,
Yesterday, I stopped by The Blaze studio in Dallas and had a great chat with Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson on their show, The Mandate. Click on the following image to watch. |
SOUTH CAROLINA
The SC House debated the state budget this week. The Columbia Swamp proposed the largest budget in state history, growing spending by over 10% from last year.
But the South Carolina Freedom Caucus, building off of President Trump's mandate to slash spending, offered a conservative alternative budget that cut $1 billion in spending and would use that money to lower income tax rates from 6.2% down to 5%, making it the largest tax cut in history.
Led by SCFC Chairman Jordan Pace, they offered 120 amendments (!!) to get rid of non-essential services and waste in the budget. Unfortunately, the "Republican" supermajority defeated each and every one of them. Here are some of the amendments they offered: |
-
Defund a climate change program (defeated 85-22)
- Defund "woke" training in government agencies (defeated 87-19)
-
Defund Hollywood subsidies, sports marketing, and subsidies for electric vehicle charging stations (defeated 92-16)

Let's be crystal clear - so-called "Republicans" in South Carolina are actively supporting The Left's top priorities. In previous years, they got away with this because there was no freedom caucus calling them out on it. But thanks to the SC Freedom Caucus, these RINOs are being constantly exposed.
Here's a video of SCFC Chairman Pace offering an amendment to cut $500,000 for ONE position within the state library. Note how the Uniparty's Rep. Gil Gatch belittles Pace for "having no idea" how this affects the rest of the budget (as if that's relevant): |
SCFC Vice-Chair April Cromer was certainly a profile in courage as well. She stood behind the House podium for over an hour while members of the Swamp insulted and talked down at her for demanding a fiscally conservative budget. Watch her challenge the Uniparty to cut spending in the video clip below: |
Following the budget fight, April was interviewed by The Blaze's Daniel Horowitz. Watch it here. After you do, you'll agree that April is one of the most principled state lawmakers in the country. |
OTHER QUICK UPDATES
The Montana Freedom Caucus fought relentless to stop the Establishment from expanding Medicaid. Every single member of the MTFC opposed the bill, but unfortunately it passed both chambers. Now the MTFC is urging their moderate Republican governor, Greg Gianforte, to veto it.
Democrats in Maryland are trying to pass billions in tax hikes to cover up the state's budget deficit created by their egregious spending habits. As part of their opposition to this liberal nonsense, the Maryland Freedom Caucus is taking part in a "tax revolt" rally at the Annapolis state capitol on March 19. If you live in the area, show your support by attending!
The Republican majority whip in the South Dakota state house - I repeat, the "Republican" majority whip - hijacked a good transparency bill and amended it to take all the good policy out of the bill and replace it with a $240 million sales tax hike. Democrats and liberal Republicans went along with this crazy idea, but the South Dakota Freedom Caucus and other conservative lawmakers were able to defeat it on final passage. Taxpayers dodged a bullet here, no thanks to RINO Republicans.
