John, three-year-old Dima is being treated for malnutrition at an IRC-supported mobile health unit in Gaza. A health worker carefully wraps MUAC (mid-upper arm circumference) tape around her tiny arm to assess the severity of her malnutrition.
She receives ready-to-use therapeutic food—a lifesaving, nutrient-dense paste that helps children regain strength.
Through the Infant and Young Child Feeding Program, children like Dima continue to receive treatment and weekly follow-up care, giving them a chance to recover.
Dima is just one example of countless children whose lives hang in the balance.
🚨In Gaza, More than 1 million people—half of the entire population—are experiencing catastrophic food insecurity and are at increased risk of acute malnutrition and death. Virtually all households are skipping meals daily, with many going full days without food.
The IRC is continuing our lifesaving programs in Gaza. Together with our partners, we're expanding nutrition screening, treatment, and essential healthcare. We’re ensuring access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, while delivering critical medicines and supplies.
Our teams are also enhancing protection for women and children, providing mental health and psychosocial support to help families cope with severe trauma, and advancing early childhood development so children can grow and thrive.
