Today, we’re celebrating Nga, a bright 13-year-old girl from the mountainous Lai Chau province in Vietnam whose future looks bright thanks to supporters like you!
Until recently, Nga struggled to see the chalkboard at school. Without access to eye care, she may have been forced to leave school and marry young—like her sister who was only 13 when she married.
But thanks to Orbis supporters like you, Nga’s future is now brighter than ever. She was one of 40,000 school children screened through our program in Lai Chau province. Diagnosed with astigmatism, she received a free pair of glasses, and when she put them on for the first time, she lit up, "Everything is super clear. It’s wonderful!" she said.
For girls like Nga, vision is more than just sight—it’s a future. Now, she hopes to finish her education and become a teacher, eventually saving enough money to buy her family a new home.
