John,
Today’s the day! We are excited to invite you to today’s hearing on the RCV Local Option Bill ! This is the bill’s first hearing of the legislative session and it will be held in the Senate Office Building in Saint Paul at 3pm today.
This legislation would empower cities, counties, and school districts to adopt Ranked Choice Voting for their local elections—giving communities the choice to improve their elections with a more inclusive and representative system.
We need to pack the room to show strong public support! Can we count on you to be there?
📅 When: Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 3:00pm
📍 Where: Senate Office Building, State Capitol, Room 1200 (parking available in old Sears lot across the street from the State Office Building, which is currently under construction)
🗳️ What: Elections Committee Hearing — Wear your orange RCV shirt!
Carried by Elections Chair Sen. Jim Carlson and coauthored by Senators Westlin, Cwodzinski, and Hauschild , this bill would:
1. Give voters in every Minnesota city the local control they need to choose RCV for their local elections.
2. Allow existing RCV cities flexibility in choosing odd- or even-year election cycles.
3. Provide consistent implementation standards for the use of RCV.
Getting this bill through the Senate is a top priority, and we need your support to make it happen! Sign up now to let us know you'll be there:
