Dear John,
2025 is set to be a year of progress, a year of growth and opportunity for kiwis. We’re committed to building on this momentum and delivering real results.
Already this year we’ve appointed James Meager as Minister for the South Island, announced prioritising delivery of upgrades to SH76 Brougham Street in Christchurch as a Road of Regional Significance (including an overbridge between Collins and Simeon Streets) and opened more social housing for seniors here in Ilam.
Christchurch is a busy exciting place to be. I get asked a lot about the progress of One NZ Stadium at Te Kaha. See the latest progress here [Te Kaha Project news and announcements : Christchurch City Council]([link removed])
With 33 schools within our boundary as well as the university, education is a large employer. This government has a laser focus on literacy & numeracy at school. We want all children to be proficient and confident in reading, writing and maths so they grow up and live the lives they want. For details click[here. (Beehive PR)]([link removed])
Youth member of Parliament – an exciting opportunity!
Do you know someone who wants to be Ilam’s next Youth Parliamentarian? They must be aged 16-18 and live in the Ilam electorate. It’s a four-month tenure including 2 stimulating days up in Parliament. I’m asking applicants to apply by sending a short video telling me why they want to be Ilam’s Youth Parliamentarian. To find out more, email me on [

Join me on line to discuss the issues that currently concern you on the first Tuesday of the month. My next live chat will be Tuesday 4 March 8pm - 8.30 Facebook [- hamishcampbellforIlam]([link removed])
I’ll be out in the electorate at ‘Kia Ora Bryndwr’ – Monday 17 February at Morley Reserve 5-7pm and the very popular ‘Culture Galore’ - Saturday 8 March at Ray Blank Park 12-4pm. Come along and say hello.
I will also be hosting a couple of sessions at the Bluegreen’s Policy Forum in Methven on the 22nd February, if you would like to join us go to the registration details [here]([link removed]). The Bluegreen’s policy group advocates for environmentally responsible policies, aiming to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
Thank you to all the groups that have invited me to share their celebration of Chinese New Year
Congratulations to Christchurch Boys’ High school on the opening of the New Main Block
Minister for Housing, Hon Chris Bishop opened some affordable housing, partly government funded, for seniors in the Ilam electorate, at Wesley Village, Papanui.
175 years for Christ’s College.
I have sent my very best wishes to College, as they celebrate their 175-year anniversary. For a school in New Zealand to be celebrating 175 years is exceptional and is a credit to the school governance, staff and boys.
