CAUGHT ON CAMERA: 21st-Century Jonah and the Whale
Has anyone ever told you that the Bible can’t be real because its stories just
aren’t realistic?
If so, show them this video <[link removed]>
of a whale swallowing a Chilean kayaker whole then spitting him out, like in
the Old Testament’s Jonah and the Whale tale.
“I thought I was dead,” the boater reportedly said after his miraculous
survival. “I thought it had eaten me, that it had swallowed me.”

VIDEO: Trump Slams “Very Bitter Guy” McConnell
Apparent liberal Mitch McConnell is hellbent on being a thorn in Donald
Trump’s side.
The Kentucky senator was the only Republican who voted against confirming
Tulsi Gabbard and Robert Kennedy this week, and it’s clear why. Did McConnell
think he could stop the president’s nominees from taking office? Of course not.
He knew they had the votes with or without him. He did it purely out of spite.
The beleaguered and only sometimes upright lawmaker is deeply bitter about
Trump’s rise to the top of his party. He can’t stand that the days of
neoliberalism dominating Washington are over. If it were up to him, the GOP
would still stand for endless wars, mass domestic surveillance, and
out-of-control Pentagon spending.
Time will tell how McConnell navigates the rest of Trump’s term, assuming he
survives its entirety. Based on his behavior so far, the chances of a
harmonious relationship between him and the White House feel nonexistent.

No New Nukes? President Floats Multinational Disarmament
The bombs Harry Truman dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were tiny compared to
the weapons that exist today. Some explosives developed since then can generate
hundreds of times the destruction of the blasts that ended World War II. It’s
eerie if you think about it.
Given that reality, is there really a need to continue developing new nukes?
As Donald Trump said on Thursday, “You could destroy the world 50 times over,
100 times over” with the bombs America, Russia, and China have already. Those
nations’ leaders wanting to flex their manhood is the only purpose of
continuing to build more.
The president seems to understand the purposelessness of such an exercise.
"There’s no reason for us to be building brand new nuclear weapons, we already
have so many," he told reporters while floating potential international
denuclearization talks. "We’re all spending a lot of money that we could be
spending on other things that are actually, hopefully, much more productive."
As of September 2023, the U.S. maintains over 3,700 nuclear warheads and
projects to spend over $700 billion on further development between that time
and 2032.Read more.

Speaking of Nukes… Remember Chernobyl?
Volodomyr Zelensky is accusing the Russian military of attacking the Chernobyl
Nuclear Power Plant, the site of world history’s worst nuclear meltdown
accident.
“Last night, a Russian attack drone with a high-explosive warhead struck the
shelter protecting the world from radiation at the destroyed 4th power unit of
the [Chernobyl] Nuclear Power Plant,” the Ukrainian president said early
Friday. “This is a terrorist attack for the entire world.”
His government also shared footage showing a flash lighting up the dark sky
surrounding the defunct plant before a large fireball rose from the domed roof
of the confinement structure. The incident reportedly caused significant damage
to the facility and ignited a fire, which is now extinguished.
Russia has rejected blame for the strike. Regardless of whether the Kremlin
is telling the truth, this story serves as another reminder that this imbecilic
war has run its course. Enough is enough.

Illegal Immigrants Have a Friend in AOC
Congresswoman, TikTok star, and conquistador namesake Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
does not care about America’s laws.
The “Squad” leader’s office held a “Know Your Rights with ICE” webinar this
week, educating illegal immigrants on how they can protect themselves from
deportation as the Trump administration ramps up its efforts to reestablish
America’s territorial integrity.
Ocasio-Cortez is not stopping there. Her government website
<[link removed]> offers
unauthorized residents guidance on how to avoid “getting picked up by ICE,”
including tips like “You do not have to open the door,” “You can ask them to
leave,” and “You can stay silent.”
“NO ONE IS ILLEGAL,” one of her graphics reads. Tax dollars pay for the site.

FAIR TRADE: Trump Levels Tariff Playing Field
If you consume corporate media propaganda disguised as right-wing commentary,
you probably think the modern GOP inherently supportsfree trade.
But it doesn’t. Free trade kills American jobs. It incentivizes companies to
produce their goods in foreign countries where workers slave away for tiny
fractions of the U.S. minimum wage. The new-era Republican Party, the
pro-worker party, condemns that practice. The future should be made in America.
What our country needs is fair trade. Donald Trump has been saying that for a
long time <[link removed]>.
<[link removed]> Fair trade gives
manufacturers a reason to head their operations inside the United States by
leveling the playing field between American and international markets,
discouraging profit-hungry conglomerates from exploiting foreign workers and
leaving Americans in the dust.
Reciprocal tariffs are one of the best ways the government can implement fair
trade. If a country like China slaps the U.S. with a 10% import tax,why wouldn’t
Washington hit back?
Trump declared on Thursday that it will from now on.

Jesuit Father Says the Vatican “Is Not a Walled City.” Yes it Is…
Pope Francis decrying the Trump administration’s immigration policies is rich
considering he lives in a city surrounded bymassive 40-foot walls
<[link removed]>.
If you were one of his minions, how would you spin his messaging? Jesuit
Father and gay rights activist James Martin took a stab at it on Thursday,
opting to deny the reality that makes the pope’s criticisms ridiculous rather
than acknowledge his obvious “security for me but not for thee” mindset.
“Dear Internet: No, the Vatican is not a walled city,” Martin tweeted. But it
certainly is. A two-mile wall completely surrounds the territory.Read more.

Why Is Trump President? “F**king Hippies Doing Acid”
“People get sick of seeing f**king hippies doing acid and f**king on their
lawns, and they’re like, ‘Let’s f**king clean up these streets a little bit.'”
That’s what Superbad actor Seth Rogen attributed Donald Trump’s 2024 victory
to in an interview
<[link removed]>
this week.
He may be onto something. The past four years consisted of cities like San
Francisco allowing rampant public homelessness and drug use even though they
could have stopped it and one state preposterously deciding to legalize all
drugs. The Democrat Party promoted those policies as well as ones that allowed
untold amounts of fentanyl to flow into our country, and voters quickly grew
tired of their program. They don’t want to live in a druggie nation.Read more.

A Valentine’s Day Message
Much of the news tends to be more negative than anyone would prefer. Liberals
lament basically everything coming out of the White House these days, while
conservatives often wish the government, although controlled by Republicans,
would domore to advance their agenda while it has the chance. No one is ever
satisfied.
Valentine’s Day provides an opportunity to escape the perpetual toxicity and
remember what we love about America; what makes this country great.
America is beautiful. People stuck in coastal urban jungles are often
tragically blind to this, but this country is filled with a diverse assortment
of natural beauty unparalleled by the rest of the world. A drive along the
California coast will take any traveler’s breath away. So will a sunset on the
shores of Lake Michigan, a midday hike atop the magnificent Rockies, or a still
morning of casting flies on a winding New England river. We have plains and
valleys, bluffs and caves, geysers and seas, and mountains and forests. If you
love the outdoors, the United States has something for you. The rest of the
world envies our landscape. It deserves gratitude.
Against all odds, America is still self-governed. Generally speaking, if a
country’s political, press, business, and celebrity elite oppose someone taking
office, they will not take office. How could they? The mighty run the world. The
people only get their way if their interests happen to align with their rulers,
which is rare. But not in the United States.
Each of America’s most powerful cohorts abhors Donald Trump. He wants to stop
illegal immigration, but the corporate elite wants to exploit it for cheap
labor. He ran on pulling away from endless wars, but permanent Washington wants
to deepen America’s foreign involvement to stuff its donors' pockets. He
exposes the media’s lies, leading corporate journalists to want him silenced to
protect their own control. And influential Hollywood figures are so offended by
the president’s Twitter profile that they can’t think straight. They would have
preferred the country elect a corpse.
None of their wishes mattered in November. Our Founders’ original promise to
create a nation where the people can alter or abolish a government with which
they are displeased held true. All of our country’s establishments wanted
another four years of Democrat rule. But voters didn’t. And that’s who won.
Most importantly, America is free. Its citizens can worship as they please,
vote for whomever they choose, and say what they believe. God bestows those
rights upon all people, but most nations fail to follow His will.
In places like Russia and North Korea, criticizing leadership is a death
wish. Everyone knows that. But even in “Western democracies” like Italy and
Germany, citizens are not free to speak openly and defend their views in the
public square. Promoting unapproved political opinions could punch their ticket
to a prison cell.
Freedom of religion? It’s more rare than you may realize. Christians around
the world are subjected to harassment, forced to have their faith approved by
their mortal rulers, and sometimes even murdered for worshipping as Americans
do on the daily.
And of course, you can’t truly control your future unless you can choose your
leaders. Compare the U.S. to Ukraine. In America, nothing is more important
than the will of the people. That’s why we held electionsin the middle of the
Civil War and as World War II raged and consumed our country. The Zelensky
government, like most throughout human history, never would have done that.
They’d use the chaos to justify maintaining their grasp on power even if their
constituents wanted them gone. That’s exactly what happened last year. Like the
presidential term-limitless Chinese, the warring country’s citizens are not in
control. Their rulers are.
The United States is different. Our people dictate their government, not the
other way around. They’re allowed to offend the powerful without fear of being
locked up. And they can pray to whatever they want, even the most bizarre gods
you can imagine. Because they are free.
A country like that deserves our love. Have the best Valentine’s weekend.

This Day in History
February 14, 1849: James Polk becomes America’s first known sitting president
to have his picture taken. New York photographer Mathew Brady captured the
image in his personal studio, the same location where he took Abraham Lincoln’s
portrait years later. Although Polk is believed to be the first president to be
photographed while in office, he was not the first to sit for a portrait during
or after his term. That title goes to John Quincy Adams.
