Hi John,
Welcome to the latest New PA Project Education Fund (NPPEF) newsletter!
As a voting rights organization, our mission is to provide current, accurate, and accessible information about the importance of voting in every election.
Pennsylvanians vote every year, twice a year. In 2025, we will vote in local, municipal and judicial elections.
Here is a list of all the judges up for retention elections this year.
Thank you for doing your part to stay informed and engaged!

In honor of Valentine's day, let us not forget about an instrumental Supreme Court decision. Loving v. Virginia paved the way for marriage equality in the United States. This case protected the right to marry regardless of race, and would later be referenced by the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges, which invalidated state laws that banned same-sex marriage.
Love is equality. Love is freedom.

Protecting People with Disabilities |
Seventeen states are currently suing the US government trying to get rid of Section 504.
Section 504 is an important law that protects people with disabilities. Section 504 says you can’t discriminate against disabled people if you get money from the United States government.
Some of what Section 504 rules ensure:
• Schools must include students with disabilities and help them learn.
• Doctors and schools must have sign language interpreters for people who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing who sign. Videos must have captions.
• Doctors must give clear information to disabled people. This includes people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Doctors must give clear information to disabled people. This includes people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Websites for schools and hospitals must work for people who are blind and low vision.
• Doctors and hospitals cannot stop helping someone because they have a disability.
• Doctors and hospitals must have tools and machines that work for wheelchair users. This includes machines that check for cancer.

How do the courts affect our rights and freedoms? Why should we be involved in judicial elections?
We will be hosting our third virtual town hall alongside Why Courts Matter - Pennsylvania, focusing on the importance of our federal courts and the role elected officials play in nominating and confirming judges. |

On February 11th, founding CEO Kadida Kenner was a special guest in conversation with PA Megaphone on the importance of PA’s upcoming judicial elections in 2025.
Pennsylvania voters are powerful. Pennsylvania is one of only seven states in the entire country that elects all of its judges and justices in partisan elections. |

We know our communities are hardworking and often pressed for time. So we will meet you where you are - literally! We are trying to make civic education as accessible as possible. Our team is helping folks register to vote while they're running errands at their local laundromat, YMCA or food pantries, amongst other places. |
