Trump asked the U.S. Supreme Court to let his executive order banning birthright citizenship go into effect in some states as litigation challenging the move continues.
Courts in three states have issued nationwide injunctions blocking the implementation of the order purporting to end birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to undocumented parents or parents who have lawful but temporary residency status.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral argument on the constitutionality of the district’s law allowing noncitizen voting in local elections. It will also determine whether a group of Washington, D.C. voters have the right to challenge the law.
The law allows noncitizens who have lived in D.C. for at least 30 days before the election to vote for local offices and ballot initiatives. This gives noncitizens a voice in choosing the district’s mayor, school board members, attorney general, and more.
