Hey Friend,
This week, there has been a lot of information that is concerning, but we want you to know there are ways to take action and stay in the loop.
Remember, Friend, in the Trump era, information is power, and we will continue to keep you updated. So here’s what you need to know:

“Trump warns that arrest of Palestinian activist at Columbia will be ‘first of many’” - AP News
WHAT’S HAPPENING: Last week, Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful U.S. resident who holds a green card, was detained by federal immigration agents in New York and flown to an immigration jail in Louisiana. Trump has made it clear that he wants to “crack down” on student-led protests against Israel, and his arrest has drawn outrage from many. This arrest solely for exercising his right to freedom of speech is a blatant attack on the First Amendment and an attempt to criminalize pro-Palestinian activism. This is a power-grab for Trump and a dangerous promise that he will do whatever to strip us of our rights - but we will not let him get away with this.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: The crackdowns on immigration and student protests initiated by Trump largely impact young people of color, who have taken the lead in these demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine. The ongoing impact on human rights will not be tolerated, and we refuse to be silenced.
WHAT CAN YOU DO: Our generation is often overlooked, but when we stand together, we can’t be silenced. Trump’s attacks show that we are a threat to his plans. As a generation who will feel the repercussions of Trump’s presidency more than any other, we must stand with activists like Mahmoud Khalil, and call out the hypocrisy of Trump.

“Some Republican lawmakers increase calls against gay marriage SCOTUS ruling” - ABC
WHAT’S HAPPENING: Republicans are arguing the legality of same-sex marriage, and want this decision to be left up to states. With the increasing number of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, this can’t happen. More than two dozen states have some kind of restriction on same-sex marriages, despite the majority of Americans believing in protecting this ruling. The back-and-forth is extremely upsetting, and it’s clear these attacks are meant to erase this community.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN: One thing about Donald Trump is he’s going to think he’s silencing us. As he continues to target LGBTQIA+ youth and their right to marriage, he assumes he’s winning. We will not let him erase our communities, and we will fight back no matter what.
WHAT CAN YOU DO: Donald Trump continues to target LGBTQIA+ youth. His mission to divide Americans is disheartening, but it makes the work we do all the more important. We are determined to fight for the rights of young people and uplift the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community. We want to hear from you, Friend. Click here to voice your concerns:

The power young people hold has been overlooked. Let’s take a closer look at this impact in the recent protests on Republican town halls, which has led to them cancelling or switching to a virtual format.
|
Republican politicians are terrified of people using their voices at town halls to express their disdain for how they are allowing a total Trump/Musk takeover of our government. Young voters are primarily being affected by the disgusting attacks by Republicans, and they’re speaking up.
With MAGA loyalists in the Trump cabinet, attacks on reproductive rights, voter suppression attempts, layoffs in the Department of Education, limits to conservation efforts, and threats to the rights of LGBTQ+ folks, we have A LOT to be angry about.
We are proud of young people who have been standing up for what they believe in, and those who continue to fight. Republicans know that we are a huge presence, and they are trying to silence our voices and our votes - we won’t let them get away with this.
